Diane Friend joined the Department of Physics and Astronomy in 1990. Professor Friend's current research interests are in science education.  She is currently a faculty partner of the Big Sky Science Partnership, an NSF funded Math/Science Partnership Program for which Diane was Co-PI during its first three years at UM. During her time at UM, Diane has taught lecture and lab courses in introductory astronomy, physical science for elementary education majors, and a special topics course on the celestial navigation of Lewis and Clark.
