Andrew Ware joined the faculty of the Department of Physics and Astronomy in 1996 after post-doctoral appointments at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Professor Ware's research is in theoretical and computational plasma physics with a focus on magnetic fusion energy research. During his time at UM, Professor Ware has taught courses on introductory physics, the physics of energy, classical mechanics, optics, thermodynamics and statistical physics, mathematical methods of physics, electricity and magnetism, quantum mechanics, and computational physics. Professor Ware is currently serving as the chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy, a member of the Faculty Senate, and a member of the Academic Strategic Planning Committee.
